August 22, 2020 - Jeff Taylor bags two-win Topless 100 weekend

The Arkansas racer claimed a pair of feature wins at Batesville Motor Speedway during the Modified portion of the 28th Annual COMP Cams Topless 100 weekend.

“We had a great car every time that we hit the track. We won on Thursday and Friday and come up second on Saturday after a great race with Brandon [Smith],” Taylor said. “It’s been an up and down year for us, hopefully were getting some momentum going.”

1Thursday night saw Jeff Taylor return to action at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Ark.) to kick off the Topless 100 weekend. After topping the 31-car field in time trials, Taylor secured his spot into the opening night feature with an 8-lap heat race victory. Outrunning Ashton Wilkey, Jeff soared to his fourth win of the season over Wilkey, Tyler Stevens, Wayne Brooks, and Clay Norris.

The following night, Jeff came one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth-place finish, sending him into the B-Main. Picking up a 12-lap consolation victory, Taylor locked his spot into the main event. Coming from the back of the pack, Taylor wheeled to his second win in as many nights over Ashton Wilkey, Wayne Brooks, Brint Hartwick, and Brandon Smith. The victory marked his fifth of the season.

For the finale on Saturday evening, Taylor scored a runner-up finish in the feature, trailing Brandon Smith across the line with Mike Bell, Wayne Brooks, and Travis Mosley completing the Top-5 finishers.

August 1, 2020 - Taylor charges to third win of 2020 in Larry Phillips Memorial at West Plains
Jeff Taylor wheeled his Industrial Electric No. 5 Spur Bar/ Wehrs Machine/ Heat Transfer Solutions/ Shaw Race Cars IMCA Modified to his third win of the season on Saturday.

Taylor’s triumph came at the annual Larry Phillips Memorial at Legit Speedway Park in West Palins, Missouri.

“We didn’t have a very good showing on the Dakota Classic Modified Tour, but we were able to bounce back over the weekend with a win at West Plains,” Taylor noted. “I greatly appreciate all of our great sponsors and everyone who supports my racing program. We’ll try and put this No. 5 back in Victory Lane this weekend.”

In a field of 23 IMCA Modifieds, Taylor jumped up one spot in his heat race to place fourth, earning him the eighth spot on the feature grid. Jeff quickly made his way to the front of the field and for the first half of the race, a fierce battle ensued for the top spot.

After the war, it was Taylor who took command and held off Ashton Wilkey in the final circuits of the 20-lapper to capture his third win of the season. Wilkey finished second, with Robert Powers, Mark Norris, and Shawn Walsh rounding out the Top-5..
